Raid rescues four from sex trafficking in the Philippines


Three children and one young woman were rescued during a raid in the Philippines.

The young woman was 22 years old, and the girls were all three between 13 and 15 years. Because of this raid with police, they have been pulled out of a trade that, tragically, often results in decades of exploitation. Many exploited women began as children just like these three. We are working closely with the Filipino government to stop the cycle of exploitation. Read more on our blog here.

27 of the survivors were children between 11 and 17 years old. While we primarily seek out children who are victims of sex trafficking, our investigative operations sometimes lead us to others trapped in different forms of trafficking. Rather than turn a blind eye to their plight, we try to help when we can in these situations.

The children were all 16 or 17 years old. Many exploited children in the area are the heads of child-run households and carry the sole responsibility of feeding their younger siblings. In addition to the eight sexually exploited children, two younger girls, 7 and 8 years old, were rescued preemptively from situations that put them in immediate risk of trafficking or abuse. All the children enrolled in Freedom Plans as they entered our Community Care program to begin their journey on the road toward recovery, stability and safety.
