31 children rescued from sex trafficking in Thailand
Multiple operations over the course of a single month led to the rescue of 31 children.
In addition to the children, six 18 and 19-year-old girls were also rescued from sexual exploitation. Though still plagued by some of the highest child trafficking in the world, the Thai government has worked hard to fight the problem, earning them an improved standing on the U.S. Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report last year. Traffickers often target struggling Nepali citizens by making false job offers through social media sites. Once out of the country, the victims are then trapped in forced labor or brothels. Thankfully, these survivors will not be among them.
