5 boys rescued in Uganda
We are excited to announce that all five survivors, ages 15 to 18, joined our community care program.
Each had endured traumas and tragedies in his past. One had been orphaned, and two were abandoned by their families. All were in need of an income and fell prey to the financial promises of the sex industry.
The boys will receive regular check-ins from their caseworker, counseling, and access to education and training. Two have enrolled in school and the other three have begun vocational training as mechanics or drivers.

The survivors are 13 to 17 years old. All were being sexually exploited in order to survive. One child began selling herself in order to afford sanitary pads.
Children trapped in this lifestyle live in constant danger. Of the 47 rescued, two had been gang-raped, a handful noted they were beaten by customers who refused to pay and one was ambushed and robbed while walking home one night.
Their lives look drastically different now. They no longer live in constant danger. Today, they are receiving food, counseling, access to education and the loving care of our reintegration staff.

Not long ago, 21-year-old Tanavi met a 33-year-old man through some relatives. They exchanged numbers and talked now and then. After learning she never finished school and was jobless, he offered her a job with a salary that matched her father’s just over the border.
Tanavi was excited about this and said she would ask her parents. The man insisted she come without telling anyone. He told her she should find friends looking for work and bring them instead.
Tanavi invited her 15-year-old causing Kasmitha to come along and together they snuck away from home at 4am.
Thankfully our staff questioned them at the border and they were rescued before their trafficker could gain complete control of them in a neighboring country. *names have been changed to protect identities
