54 Rescued from Traffickers in Nepal

Our brave border agents stopped the exploitation of 54 people, 22 of whom were children.

One of those kids was a 12-year-old boy lured by false promises from a man who offered him a better life. Fortunately, agents intercepted the trafficker as he attempted to sneak the child across the border through the jungle.

Field agents located the victims as they canvassed high-risk areas in their search for vulnerable kids. The rescue process is already starting to change lives: all the survivors have entered our Community Care Program, where they’ll learn to move past the trauma they’ve endured. After that, caseworkers will guide the children to develop life and job skills that will help them live free.

All too often, children born into such circumstances take up their parents’ trade because it’s the only option available.
Thankfully, that girl, along with the other eight, is beginning a bright, hopeful new chapter in life.
