20 Rescued from Exploitation in Zimbabwe

While they all faced sexual exploitation, only one of them was being controlled by a trafficker.

Poverty drives vulnerability. All of those other girls were forced to sell their bodies just to provide for their families without a trafficker being involved at all. Some of them had sick parents and mounting medical bills. Some of their parents struggled with addiction. They all needed food for their families, and with no other options, they endured the unthinkable just to survive.

Now things are different for those kids. All of them enrolled in our care, where they’ll learn to move past the trauma they suffered while being equipped to live free.

These brave girls sacrificed so much for their families. Their road ahead will still be difficult, but after vocational training, they can join other survivors who’ve landed stable jobs or even become entrepreneurs. Best of all, they’ll walk that road in freedom.

12 Kids Freed from Sexual Exploitation in South Africa

The children are recovering through our Community Care Program

All of the children, as well as one young adult, were driven to exploitation by dire circumstances. Crippling debt, crushing poverty and parents with addictions were all contributing factors to their desperation.

Now, the survivors are being equipped to live in safety and freedom. Beyond providing their immediate physical needs, our Community Care Program will help survivors deal with their trauma while also addressing the vulnerabilities that led to exploitation in the first place.

10-year-old girl rescued

Her father was sexually abusing her, and her mother didn’t believe her.

Trigger Warning: Suicidal thoughts and sexual abuse

10-year-old Olivia had been acting strangely for months. She seemed angry and withdrawn, and her teacher grew concerned. One day, the fire department had to rescue the young child after she climbed a nearby electrical tower, showing a disturbing lack of concern for her own well-being. Her teacher patiently earned Olivia’s trust until one day, when Olivia revealed that her father had been sexually abusing her. Confused and in pain, Olivia had begun acting out in a silent cry for help. When her mother was told, she dismissed Oliva, telling the teacher that the child liked to make things up. But Olivia’s teacher took the case to the authorities anyway. The ensuing investigation, supported by Destiny Rescue, revealed tragic evidence of little Olivia’s sexual abuse and neglect. Olivia’s father was arrested, and she was taken to a shelter. She has a long road ahead of her, but loving caseworkers and mental health professionals are on her side, helping her overcome.

24 Rescued in Kenya

All but one of the survivors are children.

Most of those rescued had been forced to sell their bodies just to survive. Others were rescued from sex crimes or being sexually exploited by a human trafficker for money. The youngest was only 9 years old, and three of the survivors were boys. All of the survivors have been enrolled in our Community Care Program, where they’ll learn to maneuver through the trauma they endured and be equipped to live free.

Child Safe from Abusive Coach

The girl, who became pregnant as a result of the abuse, is recovering with her family.

A distraught mother in the Dominican Republic went to authorities to report that her 15-year-old daughter had been sexually assaulted by a local coach. Officers brought in Destiny Rescue agents, and they collaborated to arrest the abuser and make the child safe.

2 girls rescued from gang’s control

The girls were being sexually exploited by the gang members.

Authorities in the Dominican Republic reached out to our team after receiving a report that two 16-year-old girls were being held captive by a dangerous gang. Agents helped with the comprehensive investigation before joining officers to raid the house where the children were being held. The children are now safe in the care of a government gender-based violence recovery program.
