Newest pilot project celebrates its first 5 rescues!

Four children, ages 13-16, have been rescued from sexual exploitation and abuse in our newest project in Africa. The seven-year-old sibling of one survivor was rescued preemptively.

All five children have joined our community care program. They will receive individualized freedom plans, health checks and counseling as they begin their path to freedom.

New projects start in a pilot phase, allowing us to take the first steps of rescue, learn more about the dynamics of sexual exploitation in the region and adapt our programs to the specific needs of survivors.

This new project is located on the edge of a slum in a large city and is staffed by local professionals ready to find and rescue children from the darkest of circumstances. We are incredibly honored to be able to rescue children in this new region and continue alongside them on their journey to stay free over the next months.

While most of the children had been forced to sell themselves just to survive, five were living with a parent or guardian who worked in the sex industry, putting the child in immediate danger of exploitation. These kids are often forced to witness sex acts and face sexual advances from their parents’ clients.

All the children have entered our local Residential Care home, where they’ll learn to cope with all they’ve endured and move toward a brighter future. Depending on their age and circumstances, they’ll also be equipped to return to school or find work to support themselves.

Our team in South Asia used their wide-ranging expertise to rescue the children and young woman from their abusers. Most of the survivors had been under the brutal control of their traffickers, but one was a victim of rape and another was forced into selling herself just to survive.

Several of the girls were rescued when rescue agents went undercover to offer them a chance at freedom. Agents collaborated with law enforcement to rescue the rest, including one raid that rescued 8 victims.

All of the survivors were returned home (some in other countries) or given a new, safe place to live.

Three traffickers were arrested during the operations. Thanks to our team’s collaboration with local authorities, those criminals can no longer harm children.
