The Jogini are seen as the lowest of the low – a prostitute who receives no payment for the acts she’s compelled to engage in. Often dedicated at a young age, tradition dictates that a Jogini girl is not to be ‘used’ until she reaches puberty, then she can be anybody’s.
Many of our girls have never been shown kindness, appreciation or love but with the right support they can overcome their grief and trauma. One of the tools we use to help them are our very popular Teddy Bear Kits.
Destiny Rescue’s vision is to rescue children from sexual exploitation. But it’s not as simple as just removing children from the sex industry. When we free a girl and bring her into Destiny Rescue’s care, our work is just beginning.
Our new Learning Centre in Phnom Penh is up-and-running and our staff and rescued children couldn’t be happier. It’s a beautiful space where our girls will learn, love, laugh and heal.
