On the day, your team meets together to Make A Stand for as long as you can...the longer you stand the more funds and awareness you raise!!

The Rules

In order to successfully Make A Stand, the main thing to remember is that you must be on your feet at all times! Therefore, you cannot sit or lie down, squat, kneel or tie yourself up to help support your weight. You can have someone else hold you up, as long as they are an active participant themselves. You can take a toilet break (maximum of 10 minutes every 2 hours) and have a 10 minute rest for every hour you stand (can be accumulated).

Tips to Help You Go the Distance

  • Have a good night’s sleep before the event.
  • Eat good food to keep your energy levels up.
  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Wear comfortable shoes.

Have Fun While Making A Stand

Standing doesn't have to be boring!! As long as you follow the rules, you can be as creative and have as much fun as you want (just be aware that physical activities can be tiring, so activities with less physical movement are recommended)!

Group Ideas

  • Movies
  • Karaoke
  • Group Games – Charades, Pictionary, board games or card games.
  • Dancing
  • Food Stations
  • Walking

Workstations for Children

  • Storybook Station
  • Games Station
  • Craft Station
  • Construction Station – Lego or Meccano.
  • Drawing/Colouring-in Station

*Destiny Rescue strictly requires all minors below the age of 16 to be supervised by an adult guardian or a parent during the Make A Stand Event.

After Making A Stand

  • Please contact all sponsors/donors and ask them to meet their commitment (show them your ‘Proof of Participation’) and give them any receipts necessary.
  • Give all funds raised and receipt book's used, back to your team leader.
  • Group Leader – Send back paperwork and bank all funds raised by the deadline for team members to be eligible for rewards.

Rewards are our way of saying, 'Thank-you for Making A Stand with us!! The following rewards will be for the best individuals and team for 2010

Individual rewards

These rewards are for the individuals who have raised the most amount of money during Make A Stand

  • First - Choice of Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii.
  • Second - IPod Nano.
  • Next Ten places - $100 worth of Destiny Rescue merchandise (Jewellery, Bags, T-Shirts).

Team reward

This is for the team who has raised the most amount of money during Make A Stand- each team member will receive a WWYD band or hilltribe band

There is no need to formally apply for one of the above rewards. When all money has been received, eligibility for receiving a reward will be calculated by our team and the winning participants will receive their reward. The earlier you send your Make A Stand money in the faster we can send you your reward!
