Make a Stand will be supporting two projects that Destiny Rescue has operating in Asia and Africa...

The First Project

The first project is the rescue and care of young children trapped in sexual slavery. We have a strong network of government agencies and international NGO's that we partner with to locate trafficked/sexually exploited children. In addition to this network, we have Destiny Rescue 'Rescue Teams' that go into brothels and red-light districts to locate and rescue these children.

Once a child is rescued she is placed in a loving family environment in one of our 'Rescue Homes'. It is there that she is given the tools she needs to heal emotionally, physically and spiritually. We have fulltime house parents, cooks, teachers, vocational trainers, counsellors, an investigation team, field officers, medical staff and guards, who help empower the child to rise to their God given destiny.

Our investigative team looks into the circumstances in which the child was sold/abused to determine if the family played any role in the sale of their child. If the family is found to be innocent we will endeavour to get the child back with them after she has healed. We then provide ongoing support for the family and ensure she isn't trafficked again. Unfortunately, many times relatives play a role in the sale or abuse of the child, so it is not safe for her to return home. In these circumstances, we care for the child in a loving family setting until she is old enough and has acquired the necessary skills to care for herself.

The Second Project

The second project is aimed at preventing a child from ever having to suffer the cruelty of being sold into a brothel: to make sure she never has to endure the daily abuse of being forced to 'service' clients.

This is done by giving job skills training to the child and assistance to their family. Education is also given to parents about the dangers of prostitution and known methods of traffickers.

Firstly, 'at risk' families are identified by going into villages and slums. They are usually either very poor, uneducated, in debt, or have a history of previously selling their daughters. We offer to house and care for their daughters while we put them through school. They are also given vocational training so they can get a well paid job, thus giving them a viable alternative to prostitution.

Secondly, poor families are given assistance through various development programs to help them become self-supporting. This removes the need for them to sell their daughters in the future. We do this through small business loans, pig/rabbit/fish breeding, agricultural training etc. In addition, we offer other practical assistance like addressing hygiene issues through toilet installations and, if possible, the supply of running water.

Thirdly, we offer education and awareness training to parents and village leaders, to make the parents aware of the unscrupulous practices of traffickers. They are educated on the horrendous conditions the child would have to endure and the risk of HIV and other diseases their daughters would be exposed to daily.

What better outcome could you hope for than to prevent a child from the abuse they would suffer from being prostituted?!? The children are placed in a loving, safe environment where they are given an education, are trained in the vocation of their choice and are given assistance in finding a job once their training has been completed.

What Will The Money Raised Achieve?

  • $60 - Buys mosquito nets for an entire family in a malaria infected area.
  • $80 - Supports an “at risk” girl for a month in the Child Prostitution Prevention program.
  • $90 - Provides a breeding pair of rabbits to poor families (plus ongoing support).
  • $100 - Sends a child to school for a year.
  • $150 - Supplies a pregnant breeding pig to a poor family (plus ongoing support).
  • $150 - Installs a fish pond and stocks it with fish for a poor family.
  • $150 - Installs a toilet in a poor hill tribe village.
  • $250 - Puts an older child through vocational training.
  • $400 - Sets a poor family up into a small business.
  • $800 - Puts a girl through a sewing course and then buys her a machine to start her own business.
  • $2000 - Creates a fish farm at one of our children’s homes to help make them self-supporting.
  • $2500 - Buys a dirt bike to get up into the hill tribe villages in Thailand to promote awareness of child prostitution. It also provides much needed support to many poor families during the wet season.
  • $2900 - Buys a generator and some basic sound and lighting equipment, so we can promote awareness of child prostitution and do some self-sufficiency training.
  • $9000 - Constructs a new home for street children in Mozambique, who are prostituting themselves to survive. This home then houses 10 children.
  • $10000 - Will purchase a new home for young boys that are at high risk of drug usage/trafficking. They can then attend school and receive various training.
